Description
The Voigtlander Prominent II is an interchangeable-lens 35mm rangefinder camera with a coupled rangefinder and a leaf shutter system. Voigtlander pitched this camera as a rival to the Leica, and priced it accordingly: it’s a solidly built camera that takes some pretty impressive lenses. That said, Leica is stillmaking cameras, and Voigtlander closed up shop in 1972, so I guess we know how that went. Fact is, the Prominent II isn’t as versatileas a Leica, with slightly finicky body-mounted focusing and ashutter system that limited the types of lenses that could be produced. On top of that, it’s notably larger and heavier. But if you’re willing to indulge it, the Prominent II can take a darn fine picture- and it really does feel like a precision instrument. This Prominent II is inexcellentcosmetic condition overall, with very light paint loss around the strap lugs. Most notably: there is a line- a scratch, or a very fine crack- in the viewfinder. Visible from the front only, it does not show up when viewing through the camera normally, but if you want absolute cosmetic perfection in your Prominent II, this may not be your camera. The included Voigtlander Ultron 50mm f2 lens is free of haze or fungus, with minor dust. Includes case and box.
